From September to November 2021, the Support of Regional Economic Cooperation in Asia (SRECA) project together with the German Import Promotion Desk (IPD) implemented by sequa gGmbH provided partners in Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and Vietnam with online training and a virtual study tour on export promotion services in Germany. It is a follow-up to the first training conducted with Chinese and European experts in March/April 2021.

The follow-up included individual online training sessions with each focus country on a topic of their choice: 1) Virtual Matchmaking – Organising a B2B Mission, 2) Market Intelligence – Development of a Fact Sheets, 3) Social Media Marketing – Development of a Social Media Campaign, 4) EU-Market Requirements. The goal was to deepen and strengthen export promotion services regarding access to the EU market with experts from IPD.

Each training per country was held in two half-day afternoon sessions (up to 3-hours). In-between the two training sessions, the EU experts did follow-up coaching with respective country participants on home assignments. Participants consisted mainly of the same group that attended the training in March/April 2021.

The training sessions were accompanied by a Virtual Study Tour. German institutions, ministerial departments and business associations in the field of agricultural trade and export promotion introduced their startegies to participanst from Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and Vietnam. Additionally, participants were able to take part in the virtual ANUGA trade fair to connect with importers and agri-business experts.

Overall, the virtual study tour and training were part of various works treams within the SRECA project to promote services to export-oriented SMEs. A follow-up is in planning for 2022.
