On 6 September 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the project Support of Regional Economic Cooperation in Asia (SRECA) implemented by GIZ and the China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association (CIQA) was signed at the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). The sub-forum of CIFTIS “Innovation and Development of Digital-enabled Testing and Certification Services” was organised by CIQA and the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Council. From GIZ side, the MoU was signed by the current acting GIZ China Country Director, Mr. Hagen Ettner, and the SRECA Project Director, Mr. Florian Miss. From CIQA, the Secretary General, Mr. Duan Xiaohong, and the Director of International Cooperation Department, Mr. Liu Zhiyong signed the MoU. The MoU will be valid from the very day of signing to 31 Jan 2023. Mr. Ettner and Mr. Duan signed the MoU live during the forum.

CIQA and GIZ SRECA have started cooperating on topics of agricultural trade and import promotion to support export facilitation for SRECA project partners in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Mongolia and Vietnam.

GIZ and CIQA aim to improve Sino-German triangular cooperation and intensive dialogues on a variety of topics such as export/import promotion, product inspection and quarantine, agri-trade facilitation, e-commerce, eco-origin product, or empowerment of women entrepreneurs. The two organisations thereby will join forces to contribute to the implementation of the global 2030 Agenda within the field of sustainable trade facilitation and private sector development.
