On 3rd March 2023 at Emario Resort, Mondulkiri province, the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) in collaboration with the GIZ-assisted project “Support of Regional Economic Cooperation in Asia” (SRECA) organized a “Dissemination Workshop on Phytosanitary Requirements for Export of Peppercorn from Cambodia to China”. The workshop was organized with the aim to disseminate the phytosanitary requirements and other specific requirements for the export of peppercorns from Cambodia to China. It also raised the awareness of growers, processors, exporters, and relevant stakeholders relating to the process of farm and packinghouse registration, pest control, and good agriculture practice.
The workshop was recognized as an important event for the reason that the protocol of phytosanitary requirements for the export of peppercorns from Cambodia to China was just signed on 9th November 2022 between the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC). According to the procedure, farm owners, exporters, packinghouses, and SMEs who wish to export peppercorns from Cambodia to China need to register with GDA as they will send the list of registered farms and packinghouses to GACC for assessment prior to export.
