On 20th of November 2019, GIZ SRECA organised the Workshop and Feedback Discussion on “Draft Export Guidelines for Mongolian Enterprises” in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. SRECA, together with their partners in Mongolia, decided to set up step-by-step guidelines on how to export specific agricultural products to China (Russia) to support Mongolian enterprises during the project implementation. In cooperation with partners on-site high export potential products within the Mongolian agricultural sector were identified. Two sustainable products – 1.) warm heated beef products, and 2.) horse meat – were chosen for which the export guidelines are being developed. The main focus of this workshop is to enhance the contents and structures of drafted export guidelines by local consultants and exchange ideas and open discussion to get comments and suggestions from related stakeholders in the field.

About more than 30 participants from all relevant stakeholders including Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, Mongolian Customs General Administration, Institute for Strategic Studies under the National Security Council of Mongolia, National University of Commerce and Business and Mongolian University of Life Sciences and representatives from export-related associations and international projects as well as private companies were present.

During the workshop, local consultants introduced the contents and structures of the drafted export guidelines to Chinese/Russian markets, and participants provided their comments and feedback which was intended to improve the contents and structures further.

Overall, the workshop was vital for local consultants and GIZ SRECA to learn about how important it was to develop such export guidelines to promote Mongolian exporting to Chinese/Russian markets.
