The official reception ceremony of the first batch of Cambodian produced mangoes was held on 01 June 2021 at the fruit market (Baoding Gaobei) in Hebei Province. The event was presided over by the Cambodian ambassador to China and the representative from the ASEAN-China Business Council. It was jointly organised by Beijing Langmeizhisheng International Trade Co., Ltd, Khmer Daily Beijing Branch, Shouheng Hebei Xinfadi Group, and Qingdao Sawadika International Trade Co., Ltd. The arrival of the mangoes showcases trade cooperation between Cambodia and China for agricultural commodities.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) officially signed the phytosanitary protocol for fresh mango exports from the Kingdom of Cambodia to the People’s Republic of China on 09 June 2020. Mango is the second fresh fruit to gain official access to the Chinese market after yellow banana in August 2019.

Joining the event, there were around 40 participants from research institute of the center for foreign economic cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), fruit market associations, China Agricultural University and several companies.

GIZ SRECA is supporting Cambodian producers to gain better access and trade information regarding the Chinese market. Together with the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) from MAFF, product specific export guidelines for banana, mango, and longan were compiled to train Cambodian SMEs and smallholders.
