The SRECA project, implemented by GIZ on behalf of the BMZ, strengthens private sector development in Mongolia, especially regarding export-oriented SMEs. One goal is to diversify export markets and to involve Mongolian partners more in regional economic integration processes in Northeast Asia.
Against this background, SRECA supported the “Export Mongolia 2021” organised by Export International Trade Center (EITC) together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Mongolian SME Agency on 09 December 2021. The event was held on site and via the online platform Export Mongolia under the theme “Solutions to promote exports during the pandemic”.
Around 100 representatives of Mongolian export-oriented companies, 10 trade-related government organisations, several representatives of banks and 10 media companies for promoting the event participated in the online event. Some of the Mongolian companies displayed their products during the online exhibition. Moreover, representatives of the government and international organisations as well as the private sector participated as panellists to discuss the improvements, challenges and outlooks of Mongolian trade policy.
The SRECA Project Director attended as a panellist in the event and presented ongoing activities of the project to promote export processes and trade-related services for Mongolian partners as well as introducing good practices from other GIZ partner countries.
The hybrid meeting and exhibition emphasised the need for Mongolian participants to actively work on effective solutions to overcome challenges regarding international trade. This aims especially at improving Mongolian exports during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, to support them to continue their business smoothly, as well as to facilitate more efficient public-private dialogues. Therefore, partners, representatives and organisers agreed to draw up a unified statement on solving several trade-related issues and continue to work together throughout the year to present tangible outcomes in “Export Mongolia 2022”. GIZ SRECA will continue to support EITC and other Mongolian partners in this regard during 2022.
